What Is Bet Behind in Live Blackjack?

Bet Behind is a live dealer feature that lets you put money on somebody else's hand when the table is full. You pick a seated player, back their box, and win or lose exactly as they do. What you do not get is any say in how they play it.
- You back a seated player's hand when no seat is open.
- Their decisions are final. You have no input at all.
- Pick someone who plays the chart, not someone on a hot streak.
- You can still count, and you can still size your bet by the count.
How it works, step by step
- The table is full, and you want in.
- You choose a seated player and place your bet on their box.
- That player decides everything: hit, stand, double, split.
- Your bet settles exactly as their hand settles.
If they double, you are usually asked in advance whether to match it. If they split, the same. Read the interface once before your first hand, because the defaults differ between products.
Why casinos added it
Full tables at peak hours. There are only so many live blackjack tables running, each with seven seats, and a popular one fills up fast. Bet Behind lets the operator take action from everyone who could not sit down.
It solves a real problem for players too. The alternative is waiting, or moving to a table with worse rules.
The risk you are taking
You are handing your decisions to a stranger. When your player stands on 12 against a 6, or refuses to split aces, or hits a hard 17 because they are frustrated, you pay for it exactly as they do.

How to choose a player
Watch a few rounds before you put anything down, and look for the same things every time.
- Do they follow basic strategy? Splitting eights against a ten and doubling 11 against a 10 are the quick tells. Both are correct, and both look scary to weak players.
- Do they decline insurance? Anyone taking it every time is telling you what they do not know.
- Do they skip the side bets? A player loading up on 21+3 every hand is playing for entertainment, not results.
- Are they consistent? Steady, unhurried decisions beat someone whose play changes after a bad beat.
Ignore whether they are winning. A player on a streak is not playing better, and the cards have no idea whose box they are landing in.
Can you count cards behind someone?
Yes, the count itself works normally. Cards come out of the same shoe and everyone at the table sees them, so your running and true counts are exactly what they would be in a seat.
What you lose is half of what counting is for. You cannot take the deviations that a high count calls for: no insurance at +3, no doubling 10 against a 10, no splitting tens against a 6. All you keep is bet sizing, which is admittedly the larger half.
The usual limit applies before any of that. This only means anything on a table dealt from a real shoe with decent penetration, which most live blackjack is not. See does card counting work online.
Where you will find it
Mostly on Evolution's live tables, which supply the majority of regulated online blackjack in the US. Any live table with a fixed number of seats is a candidate for it.
Is Bet Behind on Infinite Blackjack?
It does not need to be. Bet Behind exists to solve a seat shortage, and Infinite Blackjack has no seat limit at all. Everybody bets on the same dealt hand and then plays it independently, so you make your own decisions instead of inheriting someone else's.
If the choice is between backing an unknown player and playing your own hand on an unlimited table, take your own hand. The control is worth more than the seat.
