1. What this site is

owlcount.com is a free educational and informational tool about the mathematics of blackjack, and in particular the Hi‑Lo card counting system. It provides an online counter, trainers, and written guides.

This site does not operate games of chance. It takes no bets, pays no winnings, arranges no play at any casino, and does not encourage anyone to gamble. Its purpose is to explain probability and the mathematics of a game.

2. No guarantee of results

Everything here is informational. Card counting does not guarantee a win. Blackjack is gambling, and even perfect strategy loses over long stretches. Never play with money you cannot afford to lose.

Nothing on this site is financial advice, and we are not licensed to give any.

3. Limitation of liability

The content is provided "as is." We make no warranty as to its accuracy, completeness, or currency, and we accept no liability for any direct or indirect loss, damage, or financial cost arising from your use of this site or of the information on it.

We do try hard to be right. Every number here is computed and cross-checked, and when we find an error we correct it and say so. That is an intention, not a warranty.

4. Legality and casino rules

Counting cards in your head is a legal mental skill and it is not cheating. Using a device or an app to count is a different matter and is a crime in Nevada and other gaming states. Casinos also set their own house rules and, outside New Jersey, may refuse service to any player. Complying with the law and with the rules of any venue you visit is entirely your responsibility. 5. Responsible gambling

Gambling can become an addiction. If it is starting to feel like something other than a choice, get help. In the United States the National Problem Gambling Helpline is 1-800-GAMBLER. It is free, confidential, and open 24 hours a day, and it will connect you to resources in your state.

6. Intellectual property

The content of this site, including text, code, and graphics, is protected by copyright. Please do not copy it for commercial purposes without permission. Quoting a passage with a link back is fine and welcome.

7. Operator and governing law

This site is operated by Martin Kosek, an individual based in the Czech Republic, and is published there. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in.

8. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms at any time. The current version is always on this page, with its effective date at the top.
